New Wave New Stage: Voakes

This week on the New Wave New Stage, we have more of Lincoln’s fantastic indie/alternative scene, with up-and-coming band Voakes!

They came on the show this week and answered our “Either Ors”, and we heard their track “We Are The Number”, as well as explaining about their band name (named after an accountants! Now there’s a glamorous story for you!).

There are four fantastic tracks available for you to hear online through their various websites, and make sure you look out for them coming soon to a venue near you!

You can check out Voakes on Facebook, MySpace or their newly created YouTube:

New Wave New Stage: Stacks!

This week on the New Wave New Stage, we have Stacks; an “alt/garage/indie” band from Lincoln!
We’ll be hearing two acoustic tracks from this exciting four-piece; “No Black Marker” and “Woods Song”

The band will be playing at Kind this Thursday (24th March) for Couleur; an event we featured on the show a few weeks ago, and at the Duke Of Wellington on Friday (25th March).
So make sure you go check them out if you can!

You can find out more from their Facebook page here.

Thanks again to the guys for coming in!
If you know of or are in a band you think we could feature on New Wave New Stage, please do let us know!

Messengers

On the show this week, we had Messengers – a fantastic new local band, made up of two already successful bands; Full Tank (2010 Lincoln Battle Of The Band winners) and hardcore outfit Beatdown The Bear.
They have various gigs lined up (see below); plenty of chances to go and see them; particularly on the 24th of February at Kind, where they’ll be playing at Couleur – the creator of which we interviewed on the show two weeks ago! You can find out about Couleur here, and to find out about Messengers, head to their Facebook page.

Add a splash of Couleur…

Greetings, New Wave-rs!

On Thursday’s show, we spoke to Ben Deyn; managing director and founder of Couleur Lincoln.

‘COULEUR is a fresh, new acoustic night with something to shout about. Born out of the need for a change to Lincoln’s diminishing music scene, it aims to showcase fantastic music in a great atmosphere. There’s really not anything else that needs to be said. Its raw, acoustic and a treat for the ears-so whatever your influences, come and be a part of it!’

From the Couleur tumblr:

Following a quiet Christmas/new year period, Couleur pronounced (coo-ler) are ramping things up a bit.

We have just announced that our event is going to be re-launching alongside ‘The Collective’ at Kind, which has been very successful in the past.

The first of our ‘monthly’ events will be on the 24th of February, details of which are currently imminent!

MUTINY!

Coming up on the show (5-6pm today on 107.3 Siren FM or online at www.sirenonline.co.uk !) we have an interview with the creator of a great new ‘pop punk to hardcore’ alternative club night, Olivia Ehrhart.

She speaks to us about her love of music, the need for a good alternative to club music, and how you can find out more!

Listen in to the show at 5pm to hear the interview!
To find out more about the nights, go to www.facebook.com/mutinylincoln

Also on the show, we have a documentary about punk music, and a track from my band, Five Minutes Late!
So the whole show has an alternative music feel!

SO TUNE IN! 🙂
And enjoy x
